The East Kentwood girls tennis team narrowly won the Caledonia girls tennis invitational with a total of 17 points. Andrea Matei, Macey Hodge, and Katie Giarmo were champions at the second, third, and fourth-place singles slots. All three had 3-0 records. Kaileigh Hafke and Jasmina Jalovac were fourth doubles champions and went 3-0.
Zeeland East placed second with 15 points. Kelly Danieo was the first singles champion and had a 3-0 record.
Caledonia placed third with 11 total points. They team did particularly well in doubles, with champions in the first, second, and third slots.
“We kind of swept the doubles,” Caledonia coach Jim Pontious said. “East Kentwood and Zeeland East are very strong teams. Zeeland East wanted to win their region. Last year, they were the runner up, and this year they were looking to win. They really weren’t too challenged today and had a couple 6-0 sets. Zeeland East lost very few games.”
