Brett White had a feeling that a round like Thursdays was eventually going to happen.
The East Kentwood senior fired a personal low 4-under 67 in a Division 1 district tournament at Braeside Golf Club to win medalist honors.
The Eastern Michigan-bound White registered six birdies and two bogies and bettered his previous low round by three strokes.
“I could feel it coming because my game was there, and today the stars aligned,” White said. “I have been working hard and working with my swing a lot. I got new irons and I have a solid driver that I trust, so I just feel like it all came together today.
“It was bound to happen, and I’m glad it happened in the postseason. Hopefully it will come together next week and the week after that.”
White made six straight pars to begin his round before stringing together a run of three consecutive birdies on No. 9, No. 10 and No. 11.
He chipped in for birdie at No. 3 and was 3-under the last five holes.
“I was even through my first six holes and then just caught fire,” White said. “I was missing with my irons, but then I corrected it the last 12 holes and I was putting good. I was able to have a real strong finish.”
