Multiple Teams · Fourth quarter proves to be determining factor in East Kentwood boys basket ball team’s 68-64 victory over Jenison on Friday

Tied 48-48 at the start of the fourth quarter, East Kentwood came out stronger to outscore Jenison 20-16 and earn the victory.

Five of the six scorers for East Kentwood reached double digits, including Jaylen Carter with 17 points.

Tavon Robinson added 13 points for East Kentwood, while Brent Krimbel and Melvin Harris scored 12 points apiece.

Jenison’s Eric Evans’ 28 points led all scorers.

East Kentwood coach Jeff Anama said Carter helped his team take the lead. He scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half.

“We were down at the halftime, but clawed our way back, and made our free throws down the stretch,” Anama said.

East Kentwood improves to 14-2 (10-2 OK Red), while Jenison falls to 5-12 (5-7 OK Red).

On Tuesday, East Kentwood plays at home against Rockford. A win for East Kentwood, would mean a conference title.
